Patrick Girod, born in 1957, in the Jura Mountains between France and Switzerland.

Alternating between his work and his family, he performed his art quietly until 2001. Some months before September 11th an illness stopped all his activities, physically, mentally and, needless to say, artistically. Several months of rehabilitation, and a large desire to live and to return to the easel.

Done with figurative painting: nature is too beautiful and perfect to try to imitate her. Give way to its essential…. two, three or four colours on a white background, trying to define his uncertainties in order to draw the shape of what he considers as being alive. Such is the work of this artist, self-taught, and thirsty for sincerity and the absolute.

His art is between “primitive art” and psychoanalysis, between academicism and “neuronal gesturing”. Such is the work of Patrick Girod: primitive, without concessions, sometimes ironic, but always full of emotion and reflection, ready to slap you in the face, like that Don Quixote almost without windmill, or that windmill almost without wind.

What about my future projects: they are many….
After the Galerie Rubers, I think that I'm going to exhibit in Montreux in Switzerland, negotiations are going on. Then in 2009 I am going to participate to the Biennale in Florence and re-launch a project for the Biennale of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates in the beginning of 2009.
